Our Mission
Every resting place tells a story. We exist to ensure those stories are never lost — preserving the memory and location of loved ones for generations to come.
Why We Exist
The way we say goodbye is changing. The National Funeral Directors Association’s 2025 Cremation & Burial Report projects a US cremation rate of 63.4% for 2025, against a burial rate of 31.6%. Ashes are scattered in oceans, forests, and meaningful places. Bodies are returned to nature through green burials, reef memorials, and conservation sites. Memorial benches sit in parks and on hillsides. Trees are planted in remembrance.
Yet for all this change, one question is often left unanswered: “Where exactly is my loved one?”

Traditional cemeteries have records. But scattered remains, memorial trees, reef burials, and garden memorials often exist only in the memory of the people who were standing there. When that generation is gone, the exact place can go with them.
My Final Resting Place was built to answer that. It records a GPS location for any of ten kinds of resting place, keeps the photos and the story alongside it, and lets you navigate back to the spot. We serve pet memorials on the same terms as human ones, because the question is identical and so is the grief.
We are early. Most of what you can see on this site today is the product working, not a mock-up — and where something is still being built, we say so on the page rather than listing it as if it shipped.
Four Things We Can Show You
Record the Place Precisely
A memorial holds GPS coordinates, photos, dates, and the story, and you can navigate back to the exact spot from anywhere. Ten kinds of resting place are supported, from a plot to a stretch of coastline where ashes were scattered.
Keep It Between Family
You choose who can see a memorial when you create it, and the wizard will not let you skip the question. A private memorial is not readable by anyone who is not signed in and invited — an anonymous visitor gets a 404, not a preview.
Follow the Right Observances
Seven mourning traditions are built in — Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, Indigenous, and secular — each with its own dates and observances, plus a custom option when none of them fits. Ocean scatterings can also show tide and moon data, on the paid plan, because that is what decides when a family can go.
Honor All Companions
A pet memorial is the same memorial: same GPS pin, same photo gallery, same family sharing, same free plan. Species and breed are open text, so a horse, a parrot, or a rabbit fits as well as a dog.

Navigate there, log each visit with a mood, a note and photos, light a candle, react to someone else's visit, and talk to family on the memorial's own private thread. Human and pet memorials on the same terms. Weather, tide and AR navigation are on the paid plan; everything else listed here is free.
My Life's Journey
AI-powered life stories
Not built yet. The intent is AI-assisted interviews that turn a recorded conversation into a written life story, kept alongside the memorial. Nothing described here exists in the product today, and we will not list it as a feature until it does.
FootPrints
GPS-sealed messages
Working on the web today. Seal a message to a place: it stays locked until the person you sent it to is physically standing there. A grandmother can leave one at her favourite garden bench for a grandchild to open years later. Sending and receiving FootPrints is a paid feature; the mobile app is still in development.
These are counts of what the product does, taken from the code that runs it. They are not customer numbers. We are new, and we would rather tell you that than put a large invented figure here.

My Final Resting Place is built by The Memorial Collective. We are independent — not owned by, and not selling on behalf of, a funeral home, cemetery, or insurer. We are also very small: small enough that the message you send through the contact form reaches the people who write the software.
We will name ourselves here properly, with roles, once there is more to say than that. Until then we would rather leave this space thin than fill it with a team page that overstates who is behind the site.
