Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By using My Final Resting Place, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

2. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Memorial records you create should be accurate and respectful. Creating false or misleading memorial records is prohibited.

3. Memorial Content

You retain ownership of all content you upload (photos, videos, text). By uploading content, you grant us a license to store, display, and serve it through our platform. Content must not be offensive, defamatory, or violate others' rights.

Two things follow from the fact that memorials are shared. Anything you contribute to a memorial someone else created — a guest book entry, a photograph, a message — becomes part of that family's record, and the license above continues for it after you close your account, although your name is removed from it. And a memorial you created may pass to a family member when you close your account; see §8.

4. Subscriptions

Free accounts have feature limitations, which are listed on our pricing page. Paid plans, when available, are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. You can cancel at any time and access continues to the end of the billing period. Refunds are handled case by case.

5. B2B Services

Organizations (cemeteries, funeral homes) using our B2B dashboard are responsible for the accuracy of bulk-uploaded data and must have authorization to create memorial records on behalf of families.

6. Intellectual Property

The My Final Resting Place platform, including its design, code, and brand, is owned by The Memorial Collective.

7. Limitation of Liability

We provide the service “as is.” While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee GPS precision, weather data accuracy, or uninterrupted service availability.

8. Account Termination

We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

You may delete your account at any time, from Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. There is no recovery period. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone — there is no grace period, no hidden copy, and no way for us to restore an account once it is closed.

It is not a blanket erase of everything you have ever touched here, because a memorial belongs to a family rather than to whoever typed it in. Memorials with a family admin are transferred to that person; memorials with nobody to inherit them are only destroyed if you confirm each one by name; what you contributed to other families' memorials stays, with your identity removed. You will see exactly what applies to your account, listed individually, before you confirm anything. Our Privacy Policy §8 explains all of it in full.
